It’s wedding season, senior session, and booking season right now. And although I truly love what I do (really really), a girl needs a little break from the craziness every once in awhile to relax, recharge, and get reinspired. I love live music and so does Chris (my super hot boyfriend), so whenever possible, we try to catch whoever’s playing in the city. A few weeks ago, it was My Morning Jacket, who put on the best show I’ve seen this year, and possibly ever. Last Sunday, we went with my roommate Mary and her fiance Greg to Liquid Sundays at J. Verno Studios on the South Side, which – future brides – is a gorgeous reception venue, as well. My second shooter, Josh, is in a band called Colonizing the Cosmos (definitely check them out) and they were playing the event, along with Zeus and Lohio. Liquid Sundays is a celebration of artists – photographers, musicians, sculptors, and even live graffiti…ists. There is something about surrounding yourself with those who create beautifully that inspires you to do the same. I love that attribute of humanity. The ability to move others in such a way that they are happily propelled to create as well, whatever that may look like.
